GeoGuide Modules

GeoGuide is continuously updating and developing the app with new features and exciting modules to ensure we provide value for both you and your Visitors.

Educational Module

  • Engage and educate your Visitors by creating quizzes or competitions relating to the POIs and the attractions within your Destination.
  • Test your Visitors’ knowledge on the subjects covered on nature trails, historic buildings or about your area in general.
  • Can be used to create a simple and fun activity for kids, such as an Easter egg hunt, with questions about what the children find on their way.
  • A fun and engaging activity for schools, families and Visitors in general.

Voucher Module

  • Encourage Visitor spend and drive revenue with the Voucher module by offering discounts to attractions, events, restaurants, accommodation, etc.
  • Promote your stakeholders (members, attractions, etc.) further by offering them the chance to purchase a number of Vouchers that can be used by Visitors and locals through the GeoGuide app.
  • Can be used to increase revenue in the off-season and, for example, to nudge people away from crowded areas in the peak season.
  • Visitors and locals can access available Vouchers through the app.
  • A start and finish time can be set to their validity and once claimed, you can set a time frame, e.g., two hours, within which they need to be redeemed.
  • You can also equip a Voucher with a code that can be used when booking overnight stays at hotels and B&Bs.
  • Combine Vouchers with location-based Push Notifications, and they will appear automatically on the Visitor’s phone when they get near an attraction or point of interest.

Notification Module

  • Promote attractions and local businesses to Visitors and locals and keep them engaged and informed about what’s happening within your Destination.
  • Relevant information sent to your Visitors about experiences available near their exact location enhances their overall experience at your Destination and creates loyalty.
  • Send Push Notifications about nearby events, places and hidden experiences, vouchers or practical information, anything relevant to enhance their experience and to make sure they get the best out of their stay.
  • In the CMS you can add, schedule or automate Push Notifications to appear on your Visitors’ phones anytime you have something relevant to tell them, or they can be scheduled to fit in with other marketing messages.
  • Push Notifications can also be sent automatically based on the Visitor’s location, for example, to notify about an event, scenic spot or point of interest nearby. You can also assign a voucher to an automated Push Notification, e.g., offering a ‘Free coffee with your next dessert’ at a restaurant nearby.

Events

  • Showcase your Destination through Events and give your Visitors memories for life.
  • Promote all concerts, festivals, exhibitions, markets and other activities that your Destination has to offer, and your Visitors will be able to access them directly through the app.
  • Events can be shown on a map, so Visitors can see what Events are near them at any given time. A very useful feature for Visitors who have ‘an hour to spare’ for an authentic experience.
  • You can promote Events on the front page of the app, e.g., to give exposure to small, hidden Events or venues or to drive revenue for partners and sponsors at larger Events within your Destination.
  • App users can book their tickets or register their attendance directly through the app, and they can also add the Events directly to their phone’s calendar.
  • Create the Events in the CMS and add images, video and audio files to them. If you also add a start and end date, the Events will only appear in the app for that period of time. A cool feature that enables you to save time when publishing seasonal Events with various start/end dates.
  • App users, whether Visitors or locals, can also share the Events on social media via the app’s share button, thus promoting them to a wider audience and drive more people to download the app.

Web Map

  • Give your Visitors with an overview of your Destination using a simple, clean and aesthetically pleasing map that is easy to read.
  • Display your Routes, Places, Attractions, Events, etc., on an interactable Web Map that can be used on your website, in Visitor Information Centers, on touchscreens and other places where you want to communicate information about your Destination to the public.
  • The Web Map is the same as on the app, where visitors can filter the information by category to reduce visual pollution.
  • They can click on the relevant nature walk, historic building, event or attraction and read about it – just like on the app.
  • The map can be viewed in standard, hybrid or satellite view, depending on what is easiest for the Visitor to navigate in.
  • Visitors also have the option to download and print the map along with its information on points of interest, if they prefer to have everything in paper format.

Swipe codes

  • Add fun and a sense of adventure to the activities in your Destination.
  • Give Visitors access to places, routes, quizzes, vouchers, events, etc., by using specially created Swipe Codes.
  • Can be used to engage Visitors in numerous ways. For example, at scenic spots along nature trails where signs with Swipe Codes open information about what can be seen. Or they can be used inside buildings to unlock information about paintings and sculptures, perhaps where space for information signs is limited.
  • Swipe Codes can open content such as text, audio/video files, vouchers, events, etc.
  • A great feature for treasure hunts, whereby you place hints along a route to make up a full Swipe Code, that gives the Visitors access to the treasure!

Open API

  • Save administration time on edits and updates by only making them once.
  • We develop a custom integration between your main CMS and GeoGuide enabling your Destination app to update automatically whenever you make changes on your website.
  • An API integration is ideal for Destinations that are dynamic, with loads of changing content, events, etc., on their website.
  • If your members and stakeholders have access to their own section on your website, where they can create content and make updates, having an API integration will really offer a unique experience to Visitors as well as locals, because they won’t miss anything of what your Destination has to offer.

GeoGuide Content Management System (CMS) - The Backend

  • GeoGuide’s highly intuitive state-of-the-art Content Management System enables you to create and manage all the content within the app. It’s so easy to use, you don’t even need any IT experience to be able to do it!
  • We also collect valuable data for you, which we present to you in the CMS dashboard. Data includes Visitor demographic, number of app downloads, number of sessions, which places are interacted with the most, etc.
  • This information gives you valuable insight into trends and user behaviour, enabling you to make informed decisions on your marketing and other initiatives.

 

  • The GeoGuide CMS is built in Umbraco 8, which is renowned for being very reliable and easy to use.
  • You can update whenever and wherever you want because the GeoGuide CMS also works from your mobile device. All files are stored in the cloud so you can download them anywhere.
  • With a few simple steps you can create POIs, events, trails, vouchers, push notifications, quizzes, etc. Whatever the type of content, it is created following the same process, which makes it easy to do.
  • You can add text, pictures, audio, and video files to the content, and assign several administrators and editors to have access to the CMS.
  • When you’ve created or edited the content, simply push it to the app with a single click of a button and the update is live.
